The van model was released in 1991 as a DINKY TOYS delivery van (yellow body, white side panel, "DINKY TOYS" in red lettering).
The code for this model is DY-15B.
As described on the display carton: "The A40 cars and vans made by Austin of England was probably one of the most popular ranges being exported to many countries of the Commonwealth and British Colonies. The Austin A40 car has a very distinctive bulbous body shape, and the van is based on the A40 car chassis. This provided an impressive body capacity of 3.29 cum. The four cylinder 1200cc engine provided 42bhp."
The Brooke Bond Tea van model (DY-15) is available in limited supply from
the AUSTIN WORKS.
These are in generic cartons (same look as the Matchbox display carton, but no
Dinky lettering).

Dinky Toys were the first British toy cars produced using advanced die-casting techniques. They were in direct response to the American Tootsie toy range.
By the mid-1930s, Dinky Toys were undisputed market leaders, so much so that like other famous household names, their names became synonymous with any small toy vehicle.
Virtually every boy and many a girl, whose childhood occurred in the thirties, forties and fifties, must have played with Dinky Toys.
